clichés

a brilliant woman once wrote
life will present us with lessons
and lessons are repeated until learned




in the process of learning
simple words of wisdom
shared by those before me
to guide and comfort
I almost dismiss as clichés

because I seem to forget
that I repeatedly need to hear
what I already know
but haven't yet accomplished




mine are old
well used
and still needed

I am a slow learner
but a smiling one

we'll get there
all of us
